Telling Our Family Stories…

May 2, 2016

This weekend I’m at a family wedding in Tennessee. If you know anything about me, you’ll know that my family is huge, and we’re spread out all over the world, and that I love this crazy group to death!

My family gave me my first introduction to storytelling. As a young person growing up in Kenya, visiting relatives would catch us up with all the stories and on goings of all our family in Tanzania. At that time, there wasn’t much information shared between Kenya and Tanzania, and most of my Kenyan friends didn’t know the first thing about what Tanzania was like. So I got to paint the entire picture, spending my break times retelling all the tall tales of wonder of my colorful family and their antics.

Farewell Meu Amor is a story that is inspired by my family, and today as I participate in these events, I’m taking some time to reflect on how much of an impact they’ve had on my storytelling life. With 15 days left to go, I ask that you help me to get the word out to all YOUR friends and family to help make this campaign a successful one. If each one of us could get just one more person to contribute to this campaign it would make a world of difference.

Thank you!
