16 DAYS TO GO! JOIN US AND MAKE A MOVIE!

October 14, 2010

Dear Comrades,

Thank you for all the contributions, support and encouragements thus far! We’re working hard getting ready for the shoot, just hired a fabulous make-up artist with lots of experience creating blood and gore (woohoo!) and continuing with the outreach to get people excited about the film!

As I was working on [yet another!] rewrite of the script this week, I started thinking about why this project means so much to me, and why I hope it will mean a lot to you too! For as long as I can remember, young Africans of my generation have been labeled as apathetic complainers. The ones who party on the sinking boat, complaining about our stilettos getting wet instead of plugging the holes to stop the leaks. But my experiences in the past two years have been to the contrary.

Young Africans DO care and ARE expressing themselves, and a large number of the most passionate about change (thankfully!) are artists. We’re out here, doing/saying/making edgy, provocative, thoughtful work to encourage us all to invest in ourselves. Believe in ourselves and in each other. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by artists on this project who are just as passionate. We care and we want others to care, no matter how “uncool” it may seem. Whether its Jon Stewart’s “Rally to Restore Sanity” or young Kenyans voting to change the constitution: WE CARE AND WE’RE NOT AFRAID TO SHOW IT.

You can show that you care too by supporting us! We have 16 days to go, and as little as $10 will go a long way! Join in by contributing and also by telling your family and friends and encouraging them to do the same. Spread the word, visit our campaign site at  http://www.indiegogo.com/Suspense?a=43340&i=shlk, tell us what you think.

Show your love family, show your love!

Always and with appreciation,

Ekwa
